If there are any mid-brained people out there you know what I mean, some days your in a logical mood and just gotta play some chess, solve some math problems and other times you want to really get into a good book or have some friends over to play a little D&D--That's Dungeons and Dragons folks, and now it hasn't warped my mind.. any more than it already is.. but it is one great way to give your mind a mental cappacino, with the right crowd. So, with out further ado... What the heck are my hobbies... My first and formost love, besides Nicole Kidman in "Far and Away", or my handsome 8 year old son.. I'll brag on him later.... would have to be my great passion for the songs and lyrics of one of the last great Balladeers out there, Mr. Jimmy Buffett, visit his website at www.margaritaville.com or listen to some toons on www.radiomargaritaville.com of which I'm listening right now. Jimmy's songs and words have gotten me though some tough times in my life and many a potential road rage on the highways of SW Missouri--Crappy driver capitol of the world! So if you are interested in listening to the words of a song for a change and drawing some wonderful meaning and contemplation--ok keep in mind that Why Don't We Get Drunk was written and performed to the move the Doctor and really did have a story and meaning behind it... So, I highly recommend listening to some Jimmy B. Let's switch over to the world of sports for a bit now, my first sporting passion is tennis, could play it anytime, would love to be in the shape I was in when I played in high school for 4 years. Great exercise and what mental game when you play someone, kinda like a physical chess match... I've heard there is actually a boxing/chess organization in I believe Germany.. that would be interesting... I really do enjoy tennis, but am interested in just about any sport, especially when I can get outside and enjoy a beautiful day. Back to the other side of the brain... After high school, I really got into reading.. now I listen to audiobooks on the hour drive to work and usually have at least one, possibly 2 books at home I'm reading.. kinda strange since I really didn't read much in high school or before.. except maybe comic books.. kudos to Mr. Matthew Brandon Blaize Cashel for that one...sorry if I miffed up the spelling on that Matt.. Books I'm currently interested in are anything Dan Brown--he wrote Divinci Code, Angels and Demons--prequel to DC, Digital Fortress, and the latest Deception Point.. all great, fast reads with short chapters, all come highly recommend by mua--you know mua, like the sound a giraffe makes... oh shit, guard dogs--sorry folks another tangent... back to omega. So, Dan Brown is good, another couple of books that are really just good books to read are "The Five People You Meet in Heaven" and "Tuesdays With Maury", both by Mitch Albom.. "Pretty much every one should read those books." A quote from a good friend of mine, not sure if she would like me plastering her name on this website so she'll remain anon for now, but I'll find a way to Worm her in somehow... Other notables in the book realm are anything dealing with the Forgotten Realms of the D&D would, especially anything by R.A. Salvatore--Even though he killed Chewy--why not hold out for Jar Jar--but I suppose JJ had to give the Emperor his power--Star Wars fans will enjoy that tidbit I think. I'm also finishing up a trilogy by Stephen Baxter including Manifold Time, Manifold Space and Manifold Origin... I believe he also wrote a book called evolution but haven't read that one so I don't know if it's a part of the first 3 or not. For those of you out there that like SCIENCE fiction I highly recommend those, and pick up Bill Bryson's "A Short History of Nearly Everything" an upbeat history of most things science, pretty good read, especially in audiobook format. I'm anxiously awaiting the final books of Stephen King's The Gunslinger books, Song of Suzanna comes out on June 8th, 2004 followed by The Dark Tower on September 21, 2004 to finish up the 7 books that he started creating at the beginning of his career and has based the books of the poem by Robert Browning called Childe Roland--a pretty dark yet interesting piece of work.. Ok, enough on books for now, I think I'm loosing some of you....
Ok, I think that's enough for now, definitely more to come!! | |||||||||||
